Heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala on Monday led to a flash flood-like situation with washing away of roadside parked cars and partially damaging houses, officials said.

However, there was no loss to human life.

Dharamshala, some 250 km from the state capital, recorded the precipitation of 119 mm, the highest ever in this monsoon.

Three houses and five shops located along a seasonal rivulet in the Gaggal area were damaged owing to gushing of water. The damage to the property was largely owing to encroachments on rivulets, officials told IANS.

Several videos have been shared by locals as well as the authorities, including SHO Mcleodganj Vipin Chaudhary, on Twitter, wherein one can see floods washing away vehicles and causing damage to properties.

A 37-second clip shared by Chaudhary on Twitter, shot from the balcony of a building, shows water gushing violently on a street. A few seconds into the clip, an SUV floats away as huge water floods taking the car with it.

The video also shows a number of cars lying stranded in the flood water. People around the camera can be heard screaming as they witness the horrific visuals.
