A foreign traveler’s attempt to try India’s local alcoholic beverage, toddy, has gone viral after he shared his honest review in a video. A Scotland-based travel enthusiast, who is exploring our country, visited a desi daaru store and ordered a glass of toddy. Did he like the drink? The video, which has gone viral on Instagram, captures High's reaction.
The visuals open with Hugh served with the drink on his table at a roadside bar. Holding the glass in his hand, the man seemed excited to take his try the drink. “Alright, here we go,” he said before taking a sip. However, his expression quickly changed after tasting it.

His immediate reaction revealed some level of disappointment. He wasn't impressed with the beverage, but he didn't stop at the first sip. He took a few sips and decided to not complete it.
Soon, he made it clear that he wasn’t enjoying the drink.
The video showed him looking at the full glass of toddy in front of him and saying, “I’m never gonna finish all this.” His final verdict was blunt—“Ah, it’s no good,” shaking his head in disapproval.

Toddy, a fermented palm sap beverage, is widely consumed in parts of India, especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

"You need someone to guide you on having food from Kerala", one user wrote, suggesting a local could have helped him enjoy the drink better.
"Don’t sip the toddy.. you should drink it down and eat the savory foods with it. The kick is amazing and also you can try the sweet toddy. I had it once and hated the taste because I didn’t know how to have it", added another.
