Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh), July 16: In a shocking and tragic incident, a woman died after being bitten by a poisonous snake in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich. The shocking part is that the woman reached the hospital in a critical condition with the snake. She caught the snake after the reptile bit her from beneath her pillow while sleeping at night. She put it inside a box and took it along with her to the hospital. She showed the snake to the doctors present at the hospital. She was referred to Lucknow as her condition deteriorated. However, she died while she was being taken to Lucknow.
The incident reportedly occurred in Ambwa Titarpur village which falls under the Baunndi Police Station area. The woman identifioed as Sofia (26) was bitten by the small yet poisonous snake while she was asleep.
Sofia was bitten by the snake at around 3 AM at night on Wednesday at her home. She started screaming in fear and pain after the snake bit her. Her family members rushed to her room and they were shocked to find the snake inside her room, hiding beneath her pillow. Reacting swiftly, they captured the snake and put it inside a plastic container.
They rushed Sofia and the snake to the Bahraich Medical College. The unusual sight of a snake in the box at the hospital caused panic among the patients and the staff present at the spot.
The doctors began initial treatment of Sofia, however, her condition kept on deteriorating. They decided to refer her to Lucknow for advanced treatment. Tragically, Sofia lost her life while on she was being taken to Lucknow.
As per reports from Dainik Bhaskar, her husband Siraj who woke up after hearing Sofia's loud cries, said that the snake was still there when he lifted the pillow. The captured snake was reportedly handed over to local authorities and the family is now mourning the tragic and sudden loss of the young woman.
