'Real-life Daya': Viral video shows security guard smashing door to douse fire at AIIMS, Delhi; Twitterati call him 'hero'

After fire broke out at two hospitals in Delhi on Monday morning, the news went viral along with a video of firefighters and a security guard risking their lives to douse the fire. The video has made a lot of buzz on Twitter making people salute our fighfighters for their service.

On Monday morning, a fire broke out in a room adjacent to the operation theatre of Emergency Department in AIIMS, Delhi Fire Service said. No one was injured.

A call was received at 5.04 am about a blaze in the operation theatre (OT) of Emergency Department and seven fire tenders were rushed to AIIMS, Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg said.

Another minor blaze was reported at Safdarjung hospital, fire officials said.

A call was received at 7.58 am about a fire near the canteen area of the hospital. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot, said Garg. The fire broke out in an underground cable. It was brought under control very quickly and no injuries were reported, he said.

The news went viral making many Indians sad about the state of affairs as numerous hospitals have caught fire in the recent past.

A video has been doing the rounds on internet, wherein a security guard can be seen breaking the door to a burning room as firefighters rush to douse the fire.

While people are angry at the carelessness of authorities, they are also impressed by the bravery of firefighters.
