Traditionally, sweets like modak and laddu are offered to Lord Ganesha, but an Australian woman is making her 'bhog' for Ganpati Bappa stand out. A woman who identifies herself as Gauri shared on X that she often offers local dishes to deities during her 'puja'. This time, she offered a plate of chocolate cake to a Ganesha idol placed at the altar. Gauri posted photos of the unconventional and heartfelt offering on social media, capturing the attention of people.

"As an Austrian Sanatana Dharmi I offer Austrian foods to the Gods. This is Sachertorte (chocolate cake) for Lord Sri Ganesha,” she wrote on X.

While Lord Ganesh's idol wasn't clearly visible, it was believed the deity was placed behind a glass, which reflected an inverted image of Bappa.

Netizens react

The post went viral and received 20,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

X users asked her whether the cake was eggless and free of alcohol. She replied, "Sure seafood, wine and whiskey is in the cake". This made people say the food will rather be accepted by Mahadev, Lord Ganesha's father. Soon, she said, "Jai Shiva Shambo".

On a lighthearted note, a few users said Lord Ganesha's 'vahana' would also enjoy the cake offering.

Netizens acknowledged her interest in Sanatana Dharma and noted that any food offered with pure devotion would be accepted by the divine. "BG 9.26: If one offers to Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or even water, I delightfully partake of that item offered with love by My devotee in pure consciousness. Krishna accepts everything. But offer Sachertorte is notch up for ganesha", one wrote quoting a verse from the Bhagwad Gita.
