Indian snacks, Samosa and Jalebi along with other fast food munchies have joined cigarettes as, The Union Health Ministry has directed all central institutions, including AIIMS Nagpur, to display statutory warning boards in cafeterias and public areas to increase awareness about the fat and sugar quantity in these snacks. Netizens and avid food lovers haven't really taken this development that well and can be seen outraging on the social media platforms.

Especially samosa and jalebi are one of the most loved snacks of almost all over in the country. Now, that these snacks have come under the radar and are showing possible health risks similar to cigarettes, netizens are questioning the decision.

In recent developement, @PIBFactCheck on X has claimed that the media reports of a health warning on food products such as samosas, jalebi, and laddoo are fake. "The general advisory is a behavioural nudge to make people aware of hidden fats and excess sugar in all food products, and not specifically to any particular food product," PIB wrote.

Officials at AIIMS Nagpur confirmed that the signage will soon be visible across the campus. It's part of a wider effort to raise awareness about the country’s growing obesity crisis, which doctors warn could soon rival the impact of tobacco use.

Here's How Netizen Reacts:

One user wrote, "It is ridiculous. Warning for samosa and jalebi. Why not for Sugar Bombs 1. #Icreams 2. #Colas...." And the list goes on.

Another user commented, "New health warning for samosa & jalebi?! How are we supposed to breakfast and live now? This is a national emergency."

"Why Indian food like Samosa & Jalebi are being targeted? If cooked with good oil and ingredients, these are delicious and healthy (in normal limits). This seems like some hit job against Indian food."

"Tobacco is an independent risk factor. It harms irrespective of environment & lifestyle. There is ample proof of that. Samosa and jalebi ne aap ka kya bigada hai? If we are serious about health warnings - colas, chips, cookies etc, must get them first. Regulate & tax Big food."

"I have been eating samosas and jalebi for 52 yrs of my life without any major complications in my health. What nonsense."
