Dehradun (Uttarakhand), April 23: In a shocking incident, a bride called off her wedding and returned the wedding procession after a brawl erupted during the ribbon cutting ceremony in Uttarakhand's Haridwar. The massive brawl was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. The video shows the people with torn clothes pelting stones during the ceremony.
A wedding in Haridwar turned into chaos after a fight broke out between the bride’s and groom’s sides. The incident reportedly occurred at around 10:00 PM on the night of Tuesday (April 22).
The groom had just entered the venue with his wedding procession from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, when a few of his friends allegedly made inappropriate comments about the bride’s female relatives during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The bride’s side objected strongly to the remarks after which an argument erupted between both sides. Soon the argument turned into a physical fight, after which chairs were thrown and people from both sides started hitting each other. Many were reportedly injured in the clash.
The incident occurred at a banquet hall in Haridwar, after which the venue turned into a battleground. According to reports, stones were also thrown and more than 10 people were injured in the incident. The entire incident was caught on the hotel’s CCTV cameras and the video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Police were called to the spot but reportedly left after seeing the chaos. By the time they arrived, most of the people involved had already fled. As of now, no official complaint has been filed by either side. Police have said they will begin an investigation if a complaint is registered by either side in connection with the matter. The wedding was cancelled and the groom’s side returned to Moradabad.
