Delhi's water crisis has worsened recently. A video went viral on social media that shows locals in the Vivekanand Camp in Chanakyapuri climbing atop a water tanker for getting water.
In a video shared by news agency ANI, one first sees a large group of women waiting on the footpath with water vessels. As soon as the water tanker of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) arrives, a few of them climb atop the running water tanker in order to make sure that they get water. They then put in pipes to fill their buckets.
We can then see a crowd gathering around the tanker jostling to get their buckets filled. This overcrowding is taking place during a time when unlockdown has just begun following the second wave of Coronavirus. In fact, people were also spotted without masks and flouting social distancing guidelines amidst the pandemic.

The locals said to ANI, "(NDMC) Water tanker comes twice a day but there is no fixed timing. We have to wait for hours and sometimes skip work too."
"Sometimes we don't get to know about the arrival of water tanker by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) as we stay inside. So we wait here on the road. Even a 5-minute delay can make us go home empty-handed," says Sheela, a resident of Vivekanand Camp in Chanakyapuri, Delhi.
The video has shone light upon the troubling water crisis in Delhi earning the Delhi government a lot of criticism. Meanwhile, others are criticising Home Minister Amit Shah alleging that NMDC falls under his jurisdiction.
