Delhi: Government's new regulations for fuel ban for vehicles over 15 years old life may beneficial for the environment and a step toward pollution free India. But, a man from Delhi has not taken it well as his dad's 16-year-old Mercedes falls under the fuel ban. The man who goes by the name Rattan Dhillon on social media platform X, claimed that his car has zero pollutants and challenged the government 'to prove if it pollutes.'

Rattan Dhillon took to X to release his frustration over the new fuel ban regulations. He said his Mercedes E280 V6 is still running stronger and cleaner than most of the so-called modern cars. In his X post, he mentions Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Nitin Gadkari and official account of Mercedes-Benz India.

Challenges Government 'to prove pollutes'

He wrote, "This is my dad’s 16-year-old Mercedes E280 V6 still running stronger and cleaner than most of the so-called modern cars that keep breaking down on roads. Every single button still works, and the engine? Still does 0–100 in just 6–7 seconds. Zero pollution, zero nonsense."

Further he adds, "But sadly, I have to label it a “vintage scrap” just because we live in a country where politicians have zero love for cars! I challenge the government to prove it pollutes. They won’t, but they’ll still penalize it!"

Vehicle Scrappage Policy

As per the Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders, diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years cannot run in Delhi-NCR. These vehicles will be deregistered and must be scrapped or converted to electric. If found running, the car will be seized and scrapped.

The policy was enforced on July 1, 2025. Vehicle owners have the option to either provide written assurance to keep their vehicles off Delhi roads. They can also obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to relocate them.
