A giant elephant was crossing the road in Coimbatore's Valparai when local authorities requested people to stop vehicular movement. However, a German biker ignored the warnings and rode his two-wheeler further, coming in front of the animal and getting killed.
The 76-year-old foreigner was either unable to understand the alert or he decided to neglect them, paving the way to the tragic incident.
The incident was reported near Tiger Valley on February 4.
Foreign biker killed by elephant
The biker was identified as Micheal, 76, and he lost his life after an elephant attack in the valleys of Tamil Nadu. He was touring across the beautiful landscapes of Valparai until things turned tragic. When he ignored the warnings and ran his bike ahead, he was attacked by the elephant that was crossing the road. While other vehicles didn't move, this biker continued and got killed by the jumbo.
Reports suggest the roaring noise of the bike might have triggered the animal and made him fatally attack Michael. The elephant lifted the man with its trunk and smashed him on the road, charging at him forcefully later.
Forest guards rushed to the biker's rescue and admitted him to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries that night.
Another elephant attack
Another case of elephant attack-led death was reported from Kerala. A tribal man from Idukki was killed by a wild elephant when he visited the woods for some "clearance work". According to local media reports, the man was identified as 57-year-old Bimal from the Chembakkad area of the state.
