A funeral home in China hiring a mortuary manager gave interested candidates a career-based task instead of simply selecting them through a face-to-face interview or scanning their CVs. To get a first-hand proof of whether the person would be able to perform the said role, employers asked job seekers to step inside the morgue and spend ten minutes there.

The hiring announcement released by China's Rushan Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, according to a netizen who shared the post online, asked candidates to visit the mortuary and spend 10 minutes there.
The on-site test conducted by the bureau looked forward to qualify candidates who spent 10 minutes in a freezing cold morgue during their assessment, along with a few other requirements.
The temperature for a morgue ranges between 2°C and 6°C, which continues at a slower rate than at room temperature. However, certain morgues also operate below zero degree Celsius.
Hiring for 'mortuary manager' position

It was reported that the position of a "morgue manager" attracted a monthly salary of 2,200 yuan (Rs. 25,633). Only male candidates were being sought for this position on a three-year contract. It was noted that the person must be lesser than 45 years of age and have a basic academic degree of junior secondary school.
Also, the job seekers wishing to take up this role were asked to pay a fee before getting selected. Ask why? They were made to submit 70 yuan as an exam fee, followed by a comprehensive hiring procedure.

Reacting to the scene of job seekers being asked to spend minutes in the morgue, which is set at extremely cold temperatures to ensure bodies don't deteriorate, one wrote, "This is much better than interviewing 10 living people", and another added, "I could stay for 10 hours, just give me a book and a bottle of water".
However, people expressed the salary to be low for the work, which expected them to be able to perform their task 24 hours. “It is not the fear that holds you back, but the salary,” internet users wrote.
