Imagine opening your door to find a huge sack filled with lots of money. Wouldn't that surprise you and make you happy? Something similar happened when two kids went to pick up rags in their area. They came across bundles of cash of denominations ₹500 stuffed in a bag.
These kids found bundles of ₹500 notes in a discarded bag, only to learn they were demonetised cash. However, this didn't upset them. They continued to kiss the cash notes and enjoy the 'rich' feeling.

The footage was shared online with the caption, "Trash picker children found many bags full of old demonetized 500 rupees currency notes. RBI should give them chance to deposit and take new currency notes".
The video creator interacted with the kids while filming their reactions on camera.
Video creator informs them these notes have no value
When the two ragpicker kids were enjoying the very moment of holding bundles of cash in their hands, however, demonetised, the content creator asked them to give him one note from the bundle, which they did after initial hesitation. Soon, the man informed them that these currency notes had no value today and were out of circulation.
"Dekh bhai, paise gaddi par koi value nahi hai (See bro, there's bundle of cash but no value)", the man said.
Despite knowing that the currency notes had no value and couldn't be exchanged for real-time notes, they continued to hold and kiss the cash and enjoy the moment.
Can we still exchange old ₹500 notes in 2024?
Notably, demonetised ₹500 notes can no more be exchanged for new ones. The demonetisation of all ₹500 and ₹1,000 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi Series was announced in November 2016. Citizens were allowed to exchange these notes for a given period until December 30, 2016. Now, the notes carry no value and can't be legally exchanged.
