People often offer floral or musical tributes to the deceased. In an unusual approach, nearly one thousand people played a board game that a six-year-old girl had loved during her lifetime. The record-setting incident took place in Sydney, Australia, where more than 900 people played Monopoly on March 30.

Died from cancer

The gaming episode was a unique tribute to a young player who died due to cancer in 2017. Her parents and a local charity foundation invited people to play the game simultaneously and crack a Guinness World Record. The move came in honour of their deceased daughter, Alegra Vasiliou, who loved playing Monopoly with her parents.

Reportedly, 918 participants played the game across 150 tables.

Love for the game

In a unique tribute, Alerga's parents and Little Legs Foundation held a massive Monopoly session, which inked itself in the record books.

Her mother expressed that it was an effort to spread raising awareness about the disease that took away her daughter's life, brain cancer.

"We really wanted to create a space that allowed both young and old to come together, celebrate her, and accomplish something that everyone would be proud of. All whilst raising awareness", Sue-Ellan Vasiliou told Guinness World Records.

She pointed out that "Alegra has her very own Army". During the game, all players used a licensed version of the game featuring Alegra's Army.
