Mumbai: Mumbai police have arrested four people for threatening a doctor at knife point in the civic-run Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali. A group of people arrived in the hospital with a patient and demanded his treatment on priority basis.
All the accused – Mohammad Asif Khan (27), Mohammad Hasan Khan (25), Abdul Hafeez Khan (52) and Bilal Shaikh (23)- are the residents of Malwani. The group of people created ruckus in the hospital, threatened the doctor at knifepoint besides verbally abusing a lady doctor of the hospital.
On the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday 32-year-old Dr Umesh Waghmare was supervising the casualty ward of the hospital when an injured patient was brought there by three of his friends. According to the Waghmare, the group created chaos in the hospital even during treatment. The doctor was manhandled by one of them while Bilal Shaikh brandished a knife and threatened to kill him. Immediately the police were called in and they were arrested.
