Ostensibly after a successful debut, actors tend to sign on a bevy of films. For star kids like Ranbir Kapoor Neil Nitin Mukesh and even star bhanja Imran Khan, life has been kind.
But heres Aanaahad Singh who made a commendable debut in a
lt39Lahorealt39, but has not signed on the dotted line for films after that. Try asking him the reason and the actor merely smiles. ‘I was very keen only to act in films where I had a good role. I never got an action film offer after alt39Lahorealt39. People from the south came up to me with a football film, I got an offer for another sports film in Bollywood, but I wasnalt39t keen to do anything of that sort.
Sanjay Puransingh Chauhan who made alt39Lahorealt39had given me a fabulous break in the movie and I wanted to do a film as good as alt39Lahorealt39. I wanted to get a good role, or none at all,’says the actor rather nonchalantly.
Aanaahad in the meantime worked in a play called alt39Mohenjodaroalt39winning multiple accolades for playing the lead role in the stage production.
‘I did the play because theatre is very enriching. There are no retakes. Everything is what you say there and then.
Everything is about timing, improvisation and the immediate response for which there is no substitute,’he extols the values of working in theatre – a fact that no one dares challenge.
And now the actor has shot the cover for an international magazine called alt39Fantasticsalt39that runs out of Canada, USA and Hong Kong. Fantastics covered Aanaahad well and shot the hunk in trunks aside a swimming pool calling him the man with the best bod in Tinseltown.
And now finally Vishwanath Sharma has managed to sign on Aanaahad Singh for a film called Chal Jhoothe where he has been pitted along with Shaleen Bhanot and Claudia Ceisla. Aanaahad describes the film as a clean romcom. ‘It is a very interesting subject.
I play the role of a sober guy who gets friendly with a tomboyish girl and how their romance moves ahead,’says Aanahaad who in all probability will be a part of the Lahore director next multi starrer project as well which is a sci- fi thriller.
Aanaahad feels that there are not very good action movies made in India. ‘I really want to work with the likes of Rohit Shetty and other makers who feel the passion when they make an action movie. But what I want to see is a hardcore action movie like how Calude Van Damme works in. I would love to work in a film of that nature which has the best of action. There are no real action heroes in Bollywood today and I want to be there. I have a great body and I am athletic enough to carry of any role. Plus I have learnt so many martial arts across the world including Wushu and the Manipuri marital art that I will be the most convincing fighter on screen,’asserts the actor strongly.
