OUR STAFF REPORTER BHOPAL The forecast made by the meteorological department suggests that there will be good rains in the state this year. As there was good rain last year, the drinking water problem is not severe. After a long time, the
supply of drinking water in city areas is going on smoothly.
Out of 365 urban local bodies in the state, regular water supply is being made in 187 urban local bodies on daily basis while in 111 urban local bodies, water supply is being made on alternate days. In 50 urban local bodies, water supply is made after a gap of two days and in 17 urban local bodies, water supply is made after a gap of three days.
Last year, drinking water supply situation was very precarious. There were around 50 urban local bodies where the supply of drinking water was made after a long gap. In certain areas, water supply was made after a gap of a week.
This year, drinking water problem is relatively less in areas like Malwa and Chambal regions, which are known for severe water scarcity.
According to UAD minister, Babulal Gaur, this year there is no condition of severe water crisis and urban local bodies have been directed to ensure systematic arrangements to make sure the availability of drinking water in the coming time.
