Ujjain : Vikram University (VU) is organising its 21st convocation here on Friday. Governor Ramnaresh Yadav will chair the programme. He will confer degrees to 290 registered students during the ceremony.
VU Registrar Dr BL Bunkar informed that the convocation ceremony will be organized at the ground located at Madhav Bhavan administrative block premises at 11 am. Technical Education and Skill Development and Higher Education Minister Umashankar Gupta will be chief guest of the convocation ceremony. Vice-chancellor of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Prof R Venket Rao will deliver convocation address as special guest of the event. Urban Administration and Development Minister Kailash Vijayvergiya, School Education Minister Paras Jain, Member of Parliament Dr Chintamani Malviya and MLA Mohan Yadav will be guests of honours on this occasion. VU Vice-chancellor Prof JL Kaul will address on this occasion.
Convocation procession will be taken out in which all the guests, VU executive council members, deans and members of board of studies will be present. Governor Yadav will also dedicate four newly constructed buildings at varsity premises on this occasion. Examination building, Ramabai Ambedkar Girls’ Hostel, Girls Gymnasium Hall and Pharmacy Building will be dedicated to public. Registrar Dr Bunkar informed that second phase of Institute of Pharmacy is built with the cost of Rs 1.20 crore.
Governor Yadav will arrive at Datana-Matana airstrip at 10.15 am on Friday. He will reach at Circuit House at 10.50 am and will attend VU’s convocation at 11 am. He will pay visit to Mahakaleshwar temple at 1.30 pm and will return back to Bhopal at 4 pm. Collector BM Sharma has deployed executive magistrates and officials to maintain law and order.
City organizations support Dr Avadheshdas’s step
Different city organizations have come in support of Dharmacharya Parishad Kalyan Samiti’s State general secretary Dr Avadheshdas who raised protest against wearing of gown and hat while receiving degrees during convocation ceremony. A meeting was organized at Press Club in this regard in which chiefs of different organizations were present.
