Ujjain: The Republic Day parade will be held on Thursday here at Dussehra Maidan. After the main event, tableaus made by the various departments will be shown on the parade ground. Departments and officials concerned gave final touches to the preparations on Wednesday.
Swati Upadhyay, administrative officer, district rehabilitation centre, elaborated on one of the tableaus made by the social justice and disability welfare department. With state government promoting the welfare of the divyang citizens, the theme for the tableau will be the grand mass wedding to be held in the city in March. It is to be noted that city administration recently organised a divyang matrimonial meet and the meet for the Muslim divyang youth will be held at January 27. The conceptualisation and direction of the theme is done by lecturers, government deaf and blind school, Ghanshyam Bharti and Shailendra Bhatt.
Charan Singh Mandloi of health department threw light on the tableau created by the department. The theme for the tableau is prenatal care and safe motherhood for expecting mothers, which is created under the PM Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. The different programmes run by the government will be showcased in the tableau. Polio awareness, tests during pregnancy, pre and postnatal care will be displayed.
There will be a tableau from MP Home Guards. They will be showcasing the role of the home guards during crisis situations, crowd management and civil defence. Department of agriculture will be educating farmers on the importance of maintaining soil health in their tableau. Soil health is an important aspect of crop cultivation, the awareness on the issue will increase the quality and production value of crops, said one of the officials of the department.
There will be more than 23 tableaus in the event. The tableaus have been made by the various departments of the government.
Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee will be showcasing a tableau on malkhamb. Chief guest in the event will be energy minister Paras Jain. He will be hoisting the flag and take the salute from the parade. He will also recite the address of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to the citizens. The main event will start at 9am followed by speech by the chief guests, awards distribution and tableau exhibition. On the eve of Republic Day, mayor Meena Jonwal, municipal Speaker Sonu Gehlot and commissioner Ashish Singh extended their best wishes to the citizens of Ujjain.
