Mumbai At an intense time of paper leaks and student protests, the city faced two student suicides on Friday. In the first case, a 17 year- old hung himself from the ceiling fan in Malad. A suicide note was left behind in which he stated t

hat he was very depressed because he could not attend his 11th Standard exams due to sickness and hence was committing the act.

The police say that the deceased, Yash Shah, had scored a 95% in his SSC exams.

He lived in Nadiad compound at Spectrum Apartments in Malad ( East) with his sister and parents.

He was a student in Sathe College. Police say that during the time of the incident, nobody was present in the house. An accidental case has been registered with the Malad police station.

In the other case, a 21- year- old student committed suicide after learning that she had failed in her exams, police said. She committed the act by jumping from her duplex home on Friday in Malwani, Malad ( West).

The incident took place at around 2.30 pm in Gaikwad Nagar Chawl.

Police claim that the deceased, Anisha Pravin Dalt39- souza, is a second year BCom student from Gauri Mittal College. Senior police inspector of the Malwani police station, Abdul Shaikh, said, ” During the time of the incident, Dalt39- souzas parents and her brother were also present in the house. She went inside a room and committed the act.” A case of accidental death has been registered with the Malwani police station.
