The State Government on Tuesday announced a secretary- level inquiry to ascertain whether there is any unauthorised construction adjoining ” Antilia”, the multi- storeyed residence of industrialist Mukesh
Ambani in South Mumbai.
Minister of State for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav assured the Assembly during question hour that if construction of Ambani was found illegal, it would be razed. Opposition strongly demanded that the construction be demolished.
Bhaskar Jadhav told the Legislative Assembly during question hour that the Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation ( BMC) had taken possession of the land adjacent to the Antilia building for road widening work and in return gave the developer additional TDR and FSI which has been utilized fully. ” If there is any unauthorized construction, it would be demolished,” the Minister said.
Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse alleged that unauthorized construction like protection wall, stairs and parking space had taken place and vehicles were being illegally parked. He charged that the construction was legalised after Ambani visited the BMC Commissioner.
After which the land was handed over to Reliance for an annual lease of Rs 10.63 lakh.
Jadhav said around Rs 2.7 lakh were charged as penalty for unauthorized parking of vehicles.
Khadse said the issue was raised in the civic body as well and even there members had objected to the plot being allowed to be beautified and used by Antilia.. Jadhav assured that the matter would be probed and if there is irregularity, the construction would be demolished.
