Long forgotten accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, Ibrahim Mushtaq Abdul Razak Nadim Memon alias Tiger Memon, has resurfaced again and is apparently working for the dreaded ISI, Pakistans intellig
ency agency.
Intelligence Bureau reports underlined that Tiger Memon who also owns a hotel in Dubai, operates out of Pakistan- occupied Kashmir ( PoK) handling terror training camps, for the ISI. Though his direct role is not traced in the blasts that had rocked Mumbai and Delhi, in the last two months, he is believed to be a part of the terror strikes in the country for the last 18 years, ever since he fled from Mumbai on the eve of the serial city blasts in March 1993, according to IB sources.
Tiger Memon has been handling recruitment of youth into Pakistan- based terrorist outfitsalt39fold from various metropolitan cities and towns in India and using the Middle- East route to infiltrate terror training camps in PoK and then send them back to India for either executing terror strikes or being members of terror sleeper cells waiting in the lines to be assigned a task.
IB sources revealed that Yakub Memon has undergone facial plastic surgery following his flight to Karachi along with his family members and has been sighted by informers of Indian intelligence agencies frequently infiltrating the Valley for meeting terror groups leaders operating here. However, security forces have been unable to track him down.
alt145 The funds for financing terror activities come from his hotel venture in Dubai where he is provided immunity covertly by ISI moles having business interest in this petro- rich Emirates. Also, since he has been provided with a Pakistani passport under an assumed name, Interpol detaining him does not arise.
Hence, getting Yakub either deported from Pakistan or Interpol nabbing him in another country is impossible since he living in Pakistan and travelling to the Middle East on an assumed name to conceal his real identity,alt39claimed an IB official.
It is pertinent to note that Yakub Memon the younger brother of Tiger Memon, who was nabbed by Nepal police at Kathmandu Airport and handed over to CBI of India, 15 years back, was sentenced to death in the city serial blasts.
Three other family members have been given life imprisonment. Rubina, the sister- in- law of Tiger Memon, escaped the death penalty as she is a woman.
Yusuf and Essa were acquitted as they were mentally unstable. Yakub was under treatment for depression.
