œ STAFF REPORTER Mumbai Sweltering summer is here to stay with temperature in the city consistently crossing 33 degrees mark every day in town and suburbs.
The city experienced the hottest day in April since 2010 as temperature soared to
38 degree celsius on Sunday.
The temperature was five degrees above the normal mark, weather officials informed.
On Monday, much to the respite of mumbaikars, the maximum temperature recorded in Santacruz was 34.8 degree and minimum plummeted to 24.8 degree celsius. South mumbai was comparably cooler in the day with maximum temperature of 33.2 degree celsius.
Officials at Indian meteorological department have attributed rise in temperature to hot winds blowing from Gujarat and delayed setting in of sea breeze.
The Met department expects the mercury to hover above 33 degree celsius till end of May. Officials said first rain showers of the year could be expected to arrive in first or second week of June.
It seems theres not going to be any let- up in the the hot winds blowing from Gujarat.
