The apex court on Friday pulled up the MP government for High Security Number Plates ( HSNP) issue and warned that it may face contempt proceedings if it persisted with its nonimplementation.

hya Pradesh government has to take a decision on HSNP soon.

When contacted, deputy commissioner ( transport) RK Chaudhary said transport department had hired a consultant firm CRISIL company in 2010 to prepare a project on HSNP and recently this company had handed over its project report to the state government.

Now, it is up to the state government to take the decision.

” The government can either invite tenders or go for notification to invite companies to prepare HSNP,” he added. According to him, the state government has to take a decision on HSNP before September 14, as it had filed an affidavit in the apex court and had taken time till September 14. At least, one dozen states in the country have taken decision on the implementation of HSNP. In case of failure, the government may face contempt proceedings
