Four days after investigating the rape of six- year- old girl, the Shivaji Nagar police claimed to have found a person similar to the prepared sketch of the accused.
The sleuths stated that three teams
were on the lookout to locate the accused and they have most probably managed to track him down. Radheshyam Agarwal, Senior Inspector of Shivaji Nagar police said, ” We have been combing the area with the sketch of the accused and came across the suspect, who looked similar to him. However things are yet unclear.” The police had made the sketch with the help of description given by the grandmother of the victim.
Prostitution racket: 4 girls rescued
MUMBAI: The social service branch of the Mumbai police have rescued four young women, who were forced into prostitution and arrested the five accused on Thursday, Bangur Nagar Police said. Hema Kapoor 49 years, Pappu Soni 23 years, Krishnakumar Raseilly 23 years, Sunil Kakadia 24 years and Jitesh Kazavapra 31 years had forced the victims into the flesh trade and made money out of it. Five more people are yet wanted in the case. The police have seized the Innova car, Rs 26000 in cash, eight cellphones worth Rs 48,000 collectively and documents.
BEST bus driver booked for causing death of man
A BEST bus driver ran over a 35- year- old man at Goregaon ( East) on Thursday afternoon. The victim, who is yet to be identified, was crossing the road at around 12.45 p. m. when the bus knocked him down, Vanrai Police said. He was immediately taken to Bhagwati Hospital and was declared dead. It is learnt that the deceased was a street dweller who lived on a footpath in Goregaon ( East).
The bus driver fled the spot immediately after the accident, the police said.
” As of now, we only know that he used to live on a footpath in Goregaon ( east) and that he was unemployed.
No one has come forward to claim the body,” said senior inspector Suresh Shinde. The wanted bus driver has been booked for rash driving and causing death due to negligence.
Alert watchman foil robbery plans
An alert watchman foiled the robbery plans of a gang that sneaked into a middle aged womans residence in the affluent Juhu area armed with guns. Police arrested them and seized three firearms. On Friday evening, around 7pm, four men armed with country made guns went to the Ashray building in the Juhu area. While, one of the goons waited downstairs, others went upstairs with the guns concealed in their pants.
They targeted a middle- aged woman who accidentally let them in her house. One of the goons pointed a gun at her, while others started stealing all the valuables.
Meanwhile, the watchman at the gate felt suspicious about the lone goon standing near the entrance of the building and rushed upstairs to check see if everything was all right. He alerted the neighbours.
