Bhopal: As Director General of Police SK Raut is slated to retire from service next year, a race has commenced among senior Indian Police Services ( IPS) officer for the coveted post.

Currently, the names of three senior police officers ar

e in circulation for the post.

Sources said if seniority is considered then stake of IPS officer from 1976 batch Nandan Dubey is the strongest. Besides him, IPS officer VM Kanwar ( 1977 batch) and Ramesh Sharma ( 1979 batch) are also in the race for the post.

However, some times senior officers are superseded by the juniors by the government.

Sources in PHQ added that IPS officer Ramesh Arora from 1979 batch is also in the race. Sources hinted that IPS officer from 1980 batch Surendra Nath Singh may emerge as a black horse at the eleventh hour for the post.
