Police reveal traffic plans for Simhastha Fair

Ujjain : Police department on Wednesday revealed their traffic management plans for the Simhastha Fair. SP MS Verma conducted a meeting at the meeting hall of police control room and briefed the media about the traffic plans of the Simhastha.

According to the department, around from Triveni to KD Palace, 74,340 square metres of bathe-able Ghat length will be available during the Simhastha Fair. Detailing SP Verma, said micro-planning has been done with keeping minute details in hand. He, said if a single pilgrim covers area of around 1 square meter (3 feet) and takes around 15 minutes for completing the bathing process, including the transportation time, we will be able to cater around 58 lakh pilgrims each day, for 20 hours during normal days.

The approximation of 5 crore public was made through the influx of visitors to the city from Unhel, Agar, Barnagar, Dewas, Nagda, Indore and Maxi road. The data of vehicles inbound was taken from the toll booth on the roads and the head count was calculated. SP said, “We are approximating a gathering of around 2 crores on the Shahi Snana dates…for Shahi Snana dates the department multiplied the regular pilgrim influx by five times.” The police department will raise temporary police stations in six zones, including Kaal Bhairava, Chamunda Mata, Datt Akhada, Triveni Ghat, Mahakal temple and Mangalnath temple.

The visitors will be frisked at 23 identified points at various roads leading to the city. Other than this the police will provide security to all prominent religious structures of all religions, during the fair. Other than this all prominent buildings, such as hospitals, shopping malls, educational institutes and other complexes will be given security cover. The SP once again promised that the pilgrim won’t have to travel more than 1.5 kilometre to reach the nearest bathing Ghat, while detailing satellite towns. The satellite towns have been created at Ujjain Engineering College, Daudkhedi village, Soyabean Plant area, Pawasa, Unhel Naka, Agar Naka, and Barnagar Naka.

Except the Shahi Snana days the public will be able to reach the inner ghats of the city using the dedicated mass transport services and e-rickshaws for the handicapped. 28 routes have been marked for disbursing the mass transport during the fair, which will mainly include compact taxis. Similarly, the department has identified the inner city into three parts using vehicle mobility. The core fair area on the Kshipra banks, including Harifatak, Piplinaka, Badapul, Chhotapul, Mullapura, Bhukhi Mata and their arterial roads have been identified as no vehicle zone. Only vehicles having passes will be allowed to ply and same will be the facility for the local residents.
