More than 70 per cent polling was reported in the biennial election of Bhopal district Bar association held here on Thursday. No untoward incident was reported during polling held for 28 posts of the associ
ation.
The counting will start at 8 am on Friday and results will be declared by the evening.
The polling began under tight security at 8 am and only voters carrying proofs of identity were allowed to enter the polling booth.
Polling took a slow start and only 700 votes had been cast till noon.
However, polling gained momentum after 1pm and 1400 votes were cast till 1.30 pm.
Thereafter there was a decline in the pace of polling which once again gained momentum in the evening and polling closed with 2790 votes having been cast at 5 pm.
Chief Election Officer, Umesh Nigam informed that out of 3985 voters 2790 cast their votes for 94 candidates in fray for 28 posts of the association.
Nigam said that no untoward incident was reported during the poll and the advocates used their right to vote with enthusiasm.
The ballot boxes have been sealed in presence of two judges and will be opened at 7.15 am on Friday.

The polling was held for 28 posts including president, vice- president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, library in- charge, 11 senior executive members, 7 junior executive members and two each for female senior and junior executive members.
Among the candidates Prayanath Pathak, Devendra Singh Rawat, Rana Pratap Singh, SW Balchandani, Nawab Khan and Raj Kumar Pandey.
