Mystery surrounds the death of a young childless couple found dead at their home at Vitava area of Kalwa on Wednesday morning.
According to police, Santosh Dhakwe ( 40) and his wife Renuka ( 35) were
found charred to death in their house at a chawl in Vitava area of Kalwa on Wednesday morning. Though married for the last 8 years, the couple was childless, and they were unhappy over it.
Santosh used to work with a private company in Rabale.
His wife Renuka used to remain ill most of the time.
They used to often quarrel for not having a child and blame each other. Meanwhile, Santosh started drinking heavily.
The incident came to light when neighbours saw smoke coming out of the house and that led to discovery of the bodies. It is suspected that the duo died after being asphyxiated due to the thickness of smoke inside the house. The neighbours summoned fire brigade soon after and the bodies were removed and taken to the hospital.
Though suicide is suspected, the reason can be known only after postmortem report comes in, police said.
