Ujjain(Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is proposed to inaugurate the pipeline under Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Project in Tarana on March 20.

The project, which aims to provide irrigation and drinking water facilities, has been a significant step towards the development of the region. The administrative approval for this project was granted on October 18, 2017 with a revised cost of Rs 2489.65 crore for an irrigated area of 30k hectares.

The contract for the project was awarded to L&T Construction, Chennai on July 5, 2018 with a budget of Rs 1856.70 crore and a timeline of 42 months. The project will benefit a total of 100 villages, covering an area of 30,218 hectares for irrigation.

Ujjain district will receive 129.60 MLD of water

In Ujjain district, two tehsils Tarana and Ghattiya and 83 villages in Tarana assembly constituency will be covered, benefiting 27,490 hectares of land. In Shajapur district, the project will cover one tehsil, Shajapur and 17 villages in Shajapur assembly constituency, benefitting 2,728 hectares of land. In addition to irrigation, the project will also supply drinking water.

Ujjain district will receive 129.60 MLD (million litres per day) of water for industrial and drinking purposes, with Nagda city benefiting from the same amount. Tarana, Ghattiya and Guradiya Gurjar areas will each receive 21.60 MLD of drinking water.

Shajapur district will get 43.20 MLD for its villages and Shajapur town, while Maksi will receive an equal amount of water for both drinking and industrial purposes. The project involves the construction of a 15 cubic metre per second pipeline, running from Omkareshwar reservoir in Khargone district, with six pumping stations and 50 pump motors to lift water to a height of 435 metres.

The total power required for this project is 89 MW. A 2.5-hectare block irrigation system will be implemented through a 2,254 km pipeline, ranging in diameter from 3k mm to 63 mm.

A total of 1,539 OMS (Operation and Maintenance System) boxes will be installed, with one box for every 20 hectares. In addition to project inauguration, the CM is also scheduled to attend the Chadar ceremony and participate in Maharudra Yajna at Shree Tilbandeshwar Mahadev Temple in Tarana.
