Mayor irks over UMC technical staff

Ujjain : Mayor Rameshwar Akhand irked over technical staff of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) during Mayor in Council (MiC) meeting held on Thursday. Technical staff of UMC was alleged for not obeying the directives given by MiC.

Corporator Prakash Sharma raised the issue that UMC officials do not work upon the directives given by peoples’ representatives and decisions proposed by MiC. Corporators have to feel shame for not implementing their plan and proposals. Rajni Kotwani and Kalawati Yadav supported this view. Mayor Akhand directed Municipal Commissioner Avinash Lavania to act in this direction. Mayor said that technical staff who does not like to work should be handed over to PWD and Architect department should also be handed over to PWD. Lavania took the matter sincerely and directed UMC officials to accomplish the work assigned to them within deadline. Directives were issued to complete patchwork and asphaltation work zone-wise. MiC will discuss various aspects of UMC annual budget on Monday.

UMC to recruit 50 employees to catch stray cattle

Commissioner Municipal Corporation (CMC) Avinash Lavania directed UMC officials to recruit 50 new employees for two months to catch stray cattle. Lavania issued the directives during a TL review meeting held on Thursday. A drive should be launched to catch stray cattle at war level. A plan should be developed for prevention of pigs. Lavania got irked over delay in pole shifting at Qamari Marg and chamber construction work. Wells and old water resources in the city should be inspected and a list should be prepared for supplying water from them in coming days. Illegal hoardings installed at Regal Talkies should be removed and regular action should be taken against encroachers. Lavania also reviewed over action against polythene users, illegal constructions and UMC properties.
