rector Priyadarshan doesnalt39t feel that the song is crucial to the film.
He admits, ” I donalt39t think that item song was needed in alt39 Tezzalt39, but the producer wanted it, since its a music company. I didnalt39t object because the producer is always right. They must get what theyalt39ve put into the film,” while further adding, ” Ialt39m responsible for my film, not the item number.” The filmmaker though, acknowledges the item number trend in Bollywood, ” I think its important to make a commercial film for the masses, because producers need to recover their cost. Hence, its all fair. But I try to make a film with some amount of respectability, so my films will never have any double meaning dialogues or cheap jokes or anything of that sought.” That is true, considering the director creates humour from situations and his films have been situational comedies. Priyadarshan may not have felt the need for an item number, but now that its there, it should work in the films favour, maintaining the recall value of the film among the audience. Of course, the film will work only if its a good piece of cinema.
