It is now come to light that Karankumar Kakkad ( 28), a businessman who went missing from his rented Lokhandwala flat on March 5, is a bookie who accepted bets on Indian Premiere League ( IPL) cricket matc

Kakkad came to Mumbai from Delhi to get easy access to his customers and changed his residences frequently to evade arrest.

The police are now probing if Kakkad used Simran Sood as a bait ( 34) for players to fix IPL matches. Simran met celebrities and cricketers while working for an event management company and her Face Book profile has these photographs.

These include actors Kay Kay Menon, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Australian cricketers.

On Monday, the police confirmed that Vijay Palande, the main accused in the senior citizen murder case, confessed to murdering Kakkad. According to sources, Palande threw the body after cutting it into multiple pieces in Kumbharli Ghat in Chiplun, Ratnagiri district.

The police, who have found a skull and some parts of the body, are now depending on a DNA test to ascertain if it is Kakkads body. Another team in Amboli came across another body that was stuffed in a gunny bag and thrown on the road near Khandala. The police have ruled out that it is Kakkads body.
