Ujjain : A grand procession of Hari-Har Milan was taken out in the city on Tuesday night. Lord Mahakal or Hara met with Lord Vishnu or Hari and returned the creation to him for safekeeping according to the mythology.
The procession began from Mahakaleshwar temple at 11 pm. Thousands of residents decked up the Gopal Temple area to get a glance of gods exchanging tokens of virtue and returning the creation to Lord Vishnu by Lord Mahakal. The procession of Lord Mahakal passed through Gudri Square and Patni Bazaar, it reached Gopal Mandir where Lord Mahakal offered a garland of bilwapatra (leaves of a sacred tree) and Lord Gopal offered a garland of Tulsi to Lord Mahakal, which signified the exchange of duties and Lord Shiva goes back to Kailasha. After worship, the procession returned back to the temple through the same route.
District administration had the enforced ban on use of hingot and pyrotechnics during the procession, however despite the crackers were lit up the devotees which resulted in loss of property. Utensils shop GS Metallica bore the brunt of cracker menace and the owner Shantilal Surya reported loss to the property. Fire brigade was called on the spot, which doused the fire in no time. The Mahakal police also faced hard times controlling the crowd firing rockets over each other.
