Ujjain: A grand Kalash atra was taken out in the city on Monday ahead of the inauguration of Akhil Bharatiya Kalidas Samaroh. The massive procession spreading the colours of culture and tradition invited citizens to attend the week- long event.

Kalidas Academy deputy director Shashiranjan Akela informed that about 1500 students, public representatives and senior citizens were accompanied to the procession. The procession was accorded warm welcome at several points in the city which started from Ramghat at 7.30 am after Vice Chancellor Prof JL Kaul, Prof Mithilaprasad Tripathi, deputy director Shashiranjan Akela and others performed Kshipra and Kalash pujan.
Procession arrived at Mahakaleshwar temple where minister Paras Jain, MLA Mohan adav and others performed worship of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlingam.50 artists of Sanskar Bharti were accompanying the procession. They created beautiful rangolis on the entire route of the procession.
Tableaux based on Mahakavi Kalidas’s creations were also present during the procession. NSS and Scouts volunteers were present during the procession.
