Ujjain: Tarana-based scribes Kalyan Singh Tomar, Arpit Garg and Nanavati Prajapati were manhandled by goons of mining mafia at Gunakhedi of Makdon. They were shooting pictures of river Kalisindh where indiscriminate mining of sand is taking place. Arpit was with Kalyan and Prajapati, The incident happened on Monday afternoon when the journalists started taking visuals of the river from a bridge away from the quarries. Around eight to 10 men reached there on motorbikes and threatened them and asked them to leave the place immediately. The goons tried to snatch away the cameras, and forced the correspondent to delete the visuals they have taken.

After they refused to do so they were slapped and manhandled by goons namely, Bharat Sharma, Bheru Singh, and others, they also damaged the media persons vehicles. To escape from the goons, they took refuge in Makdon police station where they registered a complaint against the mafia men, later they were escorted by two police personnel. Indiscriminate mining is on the rise and the administration is turning a Nelson’s eye on it. The local revenue department is also not acting against this illegal mining which is causing lakhs of rupees revenue loss to government at the same time is causing environmental damage.
