Forest dept lacks resources to catch wild animals

Ujjain: There is acute shortage of resources for forest department. This was evident when the team arrived to catch a hyena which was spotted in Mahananda Nagar on Wednesday.

Team did not have a net and rope to catch the wild animal. Team members assembled rope, net and other accessories from local people to catch the hyena. Forest department team has left the animal in Biodiversity Park located at Udyan Marg for treatment. Hyena was having fracture in both its legs when it was captured.

Veterinary Dr Chauhan did treatment of hyena. It is said to be normal now.After the treatment is over, the animal will be left in the forest near Indore. Ujjain Forest department does not have sufficient resources to catch wild animals and even department does not have any trained ranger.

They do not have a strong cage to capture these kind of animals.In case of ferocious animals entering in the city’s locality, team will have to call from Indore to catch the animal.
