TB hosp staff to get nutritious food
STAFF REPORTER Mumbai: In a bid to ensure that employees at GTB Hospital in Sewri do not compromise on their immunity, the civic body will now provide staffers with a high protein diet. ” Come next month and every employee in Sewri TB hospital will be served with a nutritious breakfast. The meal will be replete with a portion of pulses, one egg, a fruit and a glassful of milk,” said additional municipal commissioner ( health), Manisha Mhaiskar. The hospital staffers however are not satisfied with the quantity of the diet being provided to them. ” Its been close to two weeks since we are protesting for better facilities including wholesome diet. The quantity of food that BMC has proposed to provide is miniscule.
Whereas it was demanded by the union that workers need at least two bananas, two eggs, two bread slices and 200 ml of milk, the authorities are only providing one egg, one banana and 150 ml of milk,” said Pradeep Narkar, secretary of Municipal Mazdoor Union. ” Further the diet allowance of Rs 190 that was earlier being given to workers every month will now be discontinued. Konkan Festival at BKC
STAFF REPORTER Mumbai : The Global Konkan Mahotsav of 2012 showcasing historic, social and cultural aspects of life in Konkan is being held at the MMRDA grounds in Kurla. Following the strong response last year, when the festival was first held, the organizers, Konkan Bhumi Pratishthan, decided to reorganize it this year. ” It was originally organized to change the image of Konkan by promoting tourism in the region and to stop the rapid flow of people leaving Konkan by improving their lives. We want to conserve the beauty of the region by helping the locals earn money through promoting their unique lifestyle,” said Jayant Vartak, a member of the Bhumi Pratishthan. The all- important Mango section and the Konkani food section offer a great variety for Konkani food lovers. As part of the festival, the organizers are also holding a series of discussions about growth opportunities and potential business growth in the Konkan region.
