kh on the pretext of polishing them on Monday morning. The incident took place at around 11.30 am at the residence of the victim Vilasini Mondkar ( 76) who lives with her son and daughter- in- law on the second floor of Devi Chaya building in front of Prabhadevi.
Youth arrested for rape, cheating
MUMBAI; The Samta Nagar police arrested a 25 year- old man on charges of rape and cheating on Monday, the police said. The accused has been identified as Bhavik Limbad; he was introduced to the victim by a mutual friend. The victim Priya ( name changed) ( 22) was in a physical relationship with Bhavik for the past two years.
Senior Police Inspector, Anant Kenjale of Samta Nagar Police Station, said, ” Bhavik had given Priya false promises of marriage and they both shared a sexual relationship. He is now refusing to marry her.” Priya registered a complaint when she came to know that he was going to marry another girl.
The police have booked him under Sections 420 and 376.
He will be produced in a magistrate court on Tuesday.
Probe into youths suicide on
MUMBAI: The Crime Branch Unit 11 has launched an investigation into the suicide of Nikesh Bhandari – the 26 year- old man who was found dead on railway tracks on April 15. The Crime Branch started the investigations on Sunday.
Senior Police Inspector of Crime Branch Unit 11 Raghunath Dalvi said, ” We have started recording the statements of the people involved in the case, including family members and friends.” Nikeshs brother Chaitanya will be taken to Bhagwati Hospital to identify the hospital authorities who had initially refused to admit and did not provide him proper treatment after admission.
Charkop police officials claim that when the brother duo were brutally assaulted by the accused on the March 8, an attempt to murder case was registered. After the medical reports were released, the charges were reduced to assault.
The reason, according to the police, was minor injuries.
Chaitanya claims, ” My brother was so serious, that he was admitted to the ICU ( Intensive Care Unit). How can his injuries be minor then?”
Fed up with disease, patient hangs self
MUMBAI: A 46- year- old man, fed up with the disease that he had been suffering from, committed suicide at JJ Hospital in the wee hours of Sunday, the police said. The deceased Ramnarayan Vishwakarma ( 46), a resident of Mankhurd, was suffering from pemphigus vulgaris and had been transferred from a hospital in Vashi to the JJ Hospital on March 30 for further treatment. Pemphigus vulgaris is a skin disorder that involves blistering and sores of the skin.
Recurrence of blisters and sores for the last two years prompted Vishwakarma to commit suicide.
JJ Marg police said that around 3 am, Vishwakarma used a towel and hanged himself from the grill of the verandah outside Ward no. 43, where he was admitted. No suicide note was found. ” He had been suffering from the disease for the last two years. He had no psychiatric problems. He was tired of being sick and so committed suicide. During the wee hours of the day he got up and went to the bathroom. But, after some time, when he did not return the ward boys started searching for him and at around 4.15 am found him hanging,” said Dr T P Lahane, Dean, JJ Hospital.
BMC training on disaster- management for Hinduja Hosp staff
MUMBAI: The civic body has initiated training for leading private hospitals in the city to help them deal better with disasters.
Close to 120 employees of PD Hinduja Hospital are being trained over three days to handle emergency situations.
The training becomes timely in the light of a major fire that broke out in Kolkatas AMRI hospital in December last year.
