CR union threatens strike over arrests in Nahur accident case

Mumbai: Employee union of Central Railway ( CR) has opposed the move by the Government Railway Police ( GRP) of lodging case against officers of CR for negligence leading

to death of three commuters recently. The union has threatened for stalling the services indefinitely and holding GRP for it. Recently three commuters fell down from a running train allegedly after being hit by a rod popping out of a signal. GRP registered a case of negligence against the railway officers for not maintaining the signal well letting to the commutersalt39 death. Written on a notice board in the railway premises, the message read, ” We appreciate the efforts of the railway employees for their services. If GRP arrests any employee of CR including any helper, we will not remain silent and will stall railway services indefinitely. GRP will be solely responsible for it.” Members of National Railway Mazdoor Union wrote the notice.

Brother taken to identify doctor who denied treatment to Charkop victim

STAFF REPORTER Mumbai: Chaitanya Bhandari, elder brother of Nikesh Bahndari who was found dead on the 15th of April 2012 at the railway tracks, was taken to Bhagwati Hospital on Monday for identifying the Hospital authorities who had denied proper treatment to his brother. It is learnt that the police have recorded statements of a nurse and a ward boy that were present at the time of Nikeshs admission in Bhagwati.

Chaitanya said, ” On the day of the assault, Bhagwati hospital was not ready to admit Nikesh. After a lot of request only then was he admitted and was forcibly discharged at 3 a. m.” Chaitanya claims that, the accused had used their alt39 influencealt39 on hospital authorities against the victim. In the statement, the nurse has given description that at the time of the admission of Nikesh, some persons had come to make sure Nikesh was discharged as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the police are yet investigating the details.

Duo arrested for making fake currencies

STAFF REPORTER Mumbai: Crime Intelligence Unit ( CIU) have arrested two persons for allegedly manufacturing fake Indian currencies.

The accused have been identified as Jitendra Prachiprakash Gupta ( 33) and Umeshkumar Bechu Yadav ( 28). Printers, sparkle pens, paper rolls, and a total amount of Rs 49.45 of Rs100, Rs500 and Rs1, 000 fake notes were seized by the police. The raid took place on Monday, in Siddharth Nagar, Sankraman Shibeer in Goregaon ( West). The police claim that the accuseds are residents of Uttar Pradesh and were residing in Mumbai since the past 15 days for this illegal business. Police said that, the accused has also traded in foreign nations, the whereabouts of them are being investigated. A case has been registered with the Goregaon police station. The accused have been booked under sections 489 ( A), 489 ( K) and 489 ( D) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The Crime Branch will make further investigations in this case.
