eople were being murdered in Uttar Pradesh ever since the new government took over, reports IANS. Addressing a press conference here, Leader of Opposition and state BSP president Swami Prasad Maurya said that law and order has hit a new low in the state and accused the state government of making officialsalt39 transfers a ” mini industry in the state”. ” Even as crime is spiralling, the government has made transfers an industry,” Maurya said. He added that on an average, four murders were taking place in every district every day and by this rate, 250 murders were taking place in the state every day. Warning that the Samajwadi Partys patronising of criminal elements had begun to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the BSP leader said the people of Uttar Pradesh would soon realise their mistake and would repent voting for the SP.

Pak opens fire at Indian fishermen, 1 injured

Jamnagar ( Gujarat): Pakistani Maine personnel opened indiscriminate fire on Indian fishermen leaving one of them injured near the international border in Arabian sea off Jakhau coast last night, officials said PTI on Friday. ” One of the six fishermen on board, Daya Bhai, sustained bullet injuries when Pakistan Marine Security Agency personnel opened indiscriminate fire on them late last night as they were fishing in international sea,” Marine police officials said.

Noida land row: SC notice to UP, Noida

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government on a petition by the farmers of Visrak and Patwari villages seeking restoration of their lands acquired by the Noida authority, reports IANS. The notice has also been issued to Noida authority. An apex court bench headed by Justice R M Lodha issued notice on the petition – farmers have challenged the Allahabad High Court direction ordering two- third increase in compensation to farmers whose land has been acquired by the Noida authority. The farmers have contended that they do not want compensation, but return of their land.

UP govt to scrap post of cabinet secretary

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government today decided to withdraw a proposed amendment Bill which was intended to give immunity to panchayat heads from noconfidence motion for two years and also scrap the post of cabinet secretary, reports PTI. The decision to withdraw alt39 kshetra panchayat and district panchayat amendment Billalt39, 2011 proposed by previous Mayawati government, was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here.
