OUR STAFF REPORTER Indore Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya ( DAVV) Vice Chancellor Rajkamal has drawn flak from an unexpected quarter for convening a special Executive Council meeting over common entrance test ( CET) issue.

EC member Ravi

Saxsena criticized the VC for calling the meeting over the issue, which was already decided upon.

‘The EC meeting held on April 13 had decided that CET would be conducted for admission in teaching departments.

Now, the university has convened meeting over the same issue which indicates that some persons wanted the decision to be changed,’he said threatening to boycott the Saturdays meet.

It is to be noted that the EC in its last meeting had approved a proposal for CET for admission in the teaching departments.

So far, the university used to conduct CET for admission on 12 seats of self- finance courses run by seven departments viz IMS, IIPS, School of Commerce, School of Economics, School of Pharmacy, EMRC and School of Future Studies and Planning.

But, with the last EC meeting giving nod for CET for admission at all the departments, which have about 3000 seats, the varsity realised that its not easy to arrange entrance test for such a large number of students and therefore it convened a meeting to exempt some departments from the CET. But some EC members are said to be against the move. While Saxsena has already lodged his protest, who all are against the fresh move of the university would be known on Saturday when the EC would meet.
