Ujjain : The big gardens, meant for the residents’ recreation, are in a pathetic state due to the apathy of the Municipal Corporation. Lack of proper care and maintenance of the gardens is fading the city’s beauty.
Several gardens under Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) are in a poor condition. The UMC has 60 employees who are designated to look after the gardens. But the real conditions came to fore when four presidents of different zonal committees reached at Kothi Road located public garden. They were shocked to see the pathetic condition of a garden where 60 UMC employees are appointed to maintain it.
Zonal presidents – Buddhi Prakash Soni, Shivendra Tiwari, Rajat Mehta and Rajesh Jarwal – reached at the Kothi Road located public garden and were surprised to see the poor maintenance of the garden by the staff. Out of 60 staff, only six were present on their duties. They found the grasses were dried up and there was no water in the fountain.
Taking the cognizance of the matter zonal seniors asked the garden in charge CK Shukla about the remaining employees and irregularities around, to which he was unable to provide answers. Later the leaders prepared a panchnama at the spot and handed its copy to Municipal Commissioner Vivek Kshotriya for immediate action.
