The Ganeshotsav commences in the

month of Bhaadrapada shukla chaturthi and lasts for 10 days.

Celebration of Chaturthi usually falls between August 20 and September 15 every year, and this year, it will be observed, in the city with religious fervour, on Thursday ( Sept 1). Every house and temple would be reverberated with chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya and almost all the temples here are decked up and illuminated for the occasion.

Indores main Ganesh temples— Khajrana temple, Bada Ganapati temple, Chintaman Ganesh at Juni Indore and Chota Ganpati at Malharganj— will celebrtae alt145 Ganeshotsavalt39for 10 days.

A large number of devotees would expect to turn up in these temples to participate in the 10- day Mahotsava.

On the occasion, alt145 modaksalt39would be prepared to please the Lord.

Idols of Lord Ganesha would be sold at every market place. On this occasion, eco- friendly idols would be in great demand.

Any Indian festival is incomplete without sweets. The sweetmeat sellers would have a busy day as the demand for all sorts of modaks will increase subsequently.

Many cultural, social, educational and political organisations will celebrate the Chaturthi with traditional fervour.

A Chola will be adorned on the Lord Ganesh of Khajrana Temple under the guidance of head priest Bhalchand Bhatt, Ashok Bhatt.

Collector Raghvendra Singh will perform the alt145 Dhawaja Pujanalt39after which he will offer a bhog comprising of 21,000 modaks to the presiding deity.

Srijan is also organising Siddhi Vinayak Ganpati Mahotsava, which will begin from Thursday to September 11. Organisation president Kamlesh Khandelwal said that this is the third year of mahotsava.

During this Mahotsava an alt145 Aarti Ki thali Sajaoalt39competition would be held.

The Mahotsava would begin after the ‘sthapana’of 11 feet idol of Ganesha. A lucky draw will also be taken out in the mahotsav . The lucky winner will get a chance to go for pilgrimage.

Lord Ganesha would be decorated in form of Maratha Shivaji at a Ganeshotsav which will be organised here at Jairampur Colony.

Hectic day for cops

The traffic police will be on their toes for a hassle free traffic on Thursday. Especially on the river side road where there are a lot of vendors who would sell the Idols of Ganesha. Most of people choose this way to take out the possession. Presence of large number of people would create traffic problem. Like every year, the groups and different committees would celebrate Ganesh Utsav. These groups have booked attractive idols for themselves.

They would take out the possession of following the ‘Sthapana of Ganesh’and later Puja will begin.
