Ujjain: Teams of Vikram University ( VU) and Maharashtra Universities took edge over other teams on the second day of five- day of west zone inter- university chess tournament played here on Sunday at University gymnasium hall organised under the joint aegis of Vikram University in association with Indian University Federation, New Delhi. Teams of Vikram University and Maharashtra University won their matches and maintained their lead in the tournament.

Chess team of Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal won their match with 3- 1 points against Mumbai University. Players of Hari Singh Gaud University were triumphant over Gujarat University team. Likewise, team of Rani Durgavati University defeated team of Rahuri University. Similarly, Pune University registered victory over Aurangabad University and Ahmadabad University defeated Surat University. Thirty four national chess rankers participated in tournament. Chief orbital ashpal Arora was present during matches.
Simhastha fair Authority chairman Diwakar Natu, MP Jan Abhiyan Parishad vice chairman Pradeep Pandey, Ujjain Development Authority chairman Kishore Khandelwal, journalist Nirukt Bhargava, former corporator ogesh Sharma, District Kabaddi Association president Shiv Singh Raghuvanshi and Kotwali CSP Sanjay Sahu took introduction of the players. They appreciated their game and congratulated too. Chief convener VH Badshah, Dr Nischal adav and proctor Shailendra Kumar Sharma welcomed the guests and presented mementos.
