According to the National Railway Mazdoor Union ( NRMU), the Railway officers were not at fault for the mishap. ” A committee that was set to enquire about the case submitted a report saying that Railways were not at fault for the incident but the GRP is accusing the railways for negligence. If any member of the Railway staff is arrested for that incident, we will stall the entire Mumbai division,” said Nandlal Swea, additional divisional secretary, NRMU. On April 19, a day after the fire in the Kurla signal cabin, three youngsters died after they fell off from a running train.

According to the union, the people who died and the ones who were injured must be involved in mischief.

” No lady was injured due to overcrowding but only youngsters who normally like to be on the doors and do mischief. We too feel bad for the lives of the three people but it was because of their mischief and not Railways negligence,” added Swea. The union claimed to have about four thousand members outside the office of the Divisional Railway Manager at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on Friday afternoon.
