Ujjain : Election campaign for Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) Polls-2015 had stopped at 5 pm on Monday. Just before 48 hours of the polling on Wednesday, candidates from all the political parties stopped campaigning and indulged in silent campaigning. Police administration took out a flag march in the city to maintain law and order.

District Returning Officer Kavindra Kiyawat chaired a meeting with sector and police officials at Brahaspathi Bhavan here on Monday. Kiyawat directed officials to ensure strict security arrangements at police booths for fair polling. All sector officers should keep list and maps of their allotted polling booths. Sector officials should contact to zonal officers to ensure arrangements at polling booths. There should have ramp facility at the booths for disabled. Model Code of Conduct should be followed at all centers. Directives were issued to keep a vigilant eye over 110 sensitive polling booths. SP MS Verma informed that sufficient police force will be deployed on polling booths.

3 EVMs to be reserved at each ward: Three electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be kept reserved at each ward. Randomization of the additional EVMs was done at Brahaspathi Bhavan on Monday.

Public holiday on polling day: General Administration department of the State government has issued a notification according to which public holiday has been declared on Wednesday under Negotiable Instrument Act.

3 polling booths displaced:

Venues of three polling booths have been changed as per the orders of State Election Commission. Polling booth number 282 has been displaced to north portion of Lashkari Prajapati dharamshala (Yantra Mehal Marg). Polling booth number 283 has been shifted to middle portion of Lashkari Prajapati dharamshala (Yantra Mehal Marg). Polling booth-287 has been shifted to south portion of Lashkari Prajapati dharamshala (Yantra Mehal Marg).

18 docus to work for voters’ identity: State Election Commission has fixed 18 documents to ensure the identity of electorate. They include mainly voter ID, ration card, bank passbook, license, photo ID, passport, driving license, UID, PAN card, etc.

Expense account presented: Mayoral candidates presented expense accounts of five candidates till the date of August 10. Congress candidate Dr Kavita Gome has spent Rs 3, 09, 590, BJP’s Meena Jonwal Rs 4, 67, 851, BSP’s Ramkanya Solanki Rs 56, 740, independent candidates Anita Hindolia and Bhavna Viswapremi Rs 91, 474 and 10, 000 respectively.

Holiday in all civil courts on Wednesday

Holiday will be observed at all civil courts under the jurisdiction of Ujjain Municipal Corporation on Wednesday in view of UMC Polls-2015.
