Former West Bengal Chief Minister and CPI (M) politburo member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has slammed the economic policies of the Congress-led UPA Government
at the Centre.
"People are having sleepless nights. Retail market has become a mess. The government is disinvesting PSUs (public sector undertakings), … this attitude of the Congress Party and its allies is anti-people. So, this can never help the Congress Party return to power," Bhattacharjee told media here.
The Central Government had mooted foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail sector to which most opposition parties had raised an objection, saying it would deprive local vendors of their livelihood.
In recent months, the Central Government has been criticized for its economic policies and for its inability of curb inflation.
