Shehla recently came into limelight when she sat on fast at Shehjehani Park, in support of Anna Hazare. A large number of students and social workers joined her.
She was the president of MP Progressive Muslim Womens Forum and the convener of the campaign,alt145 I will make sure that MP will remain a Tiger Statealt39. Shehla was from a well- off family and her sister Ayesha is settled in the USA. Her aunt Rubab Zaidi who lived with her is the chairman of literary organisation alt145 Urdu Kabilaalt39. One of her aunts Tarannum Zaidi is an IAS officer and is posted as deputy secretary at Vallbh Bhawan. Another aunt of hers, Tabassum Zaidi, is a senior official in the food department. A large number of relatives and friends reached her house to pay their tributes.
Laid to rest: She was laid to rest at Bada Bagh graveyard.
A large number of people including many political leaders and social activists attended the funeral. The crime branch police reportedly detained Irshad, the office assistant of Shehla, who used to work at her office in MP Nagar. He was let off in the evening according to some unconfirmed reports. However, the police denied detaining anybody for questioning as yet.
