Ujjain: Mesmerising performances of ballads enthralled the spectators on the second day of 14th School- level Kalidas Mahotsava, here on Friday. Students of different divisions performed ballads based on Abhigyan Shakuntalam, Raghuvansham and Meghdoot of poets’ poet Kalidas in senior category.

According to publicity in- charge Amitoj Bhargava, students of Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol, Ujjain, Indore and Narmadapuram participated in the contest.
By live enactment of the love between Shakuntala and Dushyant, students gave a new dimension to the literature of Kalidas. Director, Harikala Dance Academy, Pt Shridhar Vyas, lecturer of Music College, Rajendra Arya and renowned stage artist Bhushan Jain were judges of the ballad performances. Shlok recital competitions were also organised on Friday.
A drawing competition based on the creations of Kalidas was also organised. Three- day long Mahotsava will conclude at Mahakal Sabha Mandap at 2 pm on Saturday. Chairman Maharishi Patanjali Sanskrit Sansthan, Bhopal, Dr Manmohan Upadhyay will be the chief guest while MLA Mohan adav will be the special guest. HoD, Maharishi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Dr Tulsidar Paroha will be literary guest while former HoD of School of Studies in Sanskrit Dr K N Joshi will chair the programme. Education department will felicitate Padma Shri Prahlad Tipaniya on this occasion.
