Thousands of kids under the age group ( 0- 5 year) were administered polio vaccine during the second phase of Pulse Polio drive conducted across the country. On the first day of three- day drive, Health Depar
tment installed polio booths in the city and around it. Positive response was seen as people brought their kids to booths for administrating polio drops.
According to Chief Medical and Health Officer ( CMHO) Dr MK Dikshit, the second phase of Pulse Polio Drive was started on Sunday morning. Collector M Geetha also administered polio vaccine to infants at children ward of Civil Hospital. About 2149 booths were installed in the district to execute the drive. Considering Panchkroshi pilgrimage, mobile booths administered polio drops to kids at halting stations. There 59 transit and 41 mobile booths which will visit city lodges and religious place to administer polio drops.
A target of 2.82 lakh kids has been fixed during the second phase of the drive.
About 4360 employees of Health Department and Women and Child Development department have been deployed for achieving the target.
There are 213 supervisors which will observe the implementation.
